Join Our Organization and Help Rebuild America

SCORE Association is seeking experienced and successful entrepreneurs, small business owners and corporate executives to help rebuild America one business at a time. Whether you are currently working full-time, part-time or are retired, we can use your expertise to advise and/or mentor other entrepreneurs and small business owners.

We Are a Volunteer Organization
As volunteers, the assistance we provide to other small business owners is free. And although we are unpaid for our assistance, the rewards are many:

  • Community leadership and recognition;
  • Professional and personal growth;
  • Lifelong learning;
  • A chance to give back; and
  • Much, much more…

senior_couple200There are over 12,000 men and women volunteers nationwide comprised of almost every nationality. Here in Minnesota, we especially need volunteers who are multilingual. We also have a particular need to grow our base of volunteer advisors in more remote areas. For example, we are really short-handed in the Duluth/Superior area and the Iron Range. However, regardless of where you live, we can use your help!

All volunteers honor a code of ethics to ensure client confidentiality & professional conduct. Regardless of your skill set as a small business owner and/or corporate executive, you can support SCORE’s efforts by contributing your expertise in the following ways:

  • Mentoring;
  • Helping entrepreneurs succeed;
  • Leading workshops and seminars; and/or
  • Serving as a SCORE leader.

Thoughts from Our Volunteers

“I joined SCORE to further the ideal of entrepreneurship. Society has provided me with everything that I could hope for and more.  I feel compelled to share what I have gained with others so that they too can carry this forward for generations to come. I enjoy sharing my more than 35 years of business experience, knowledge and skills with start-up and established businesses and seeing my clients succeed. SCORE is an excellent venue to foster public service.”
~
Greg Boettner, St Paul Chapter

“SCORE is an invaluable resource for many entrepreneurs. Through my involvement in the local chapter and my interaction with clients, I know that I am helping clients obtain access to the many varied resources SCORE offers and at the same time offering beneficial support and advice to them along the way.  It is very rewarding to know that I have made a difference in someone’s life and had an impact on their future success in business.”
~
LaVon Dennistoun, Minneapolis Chapter

“My association with SCORE gives me the opportunity to share my expertise in banking and finance with up and coming small businesses. By helping small businesses succeed, I am doing my part to make our community stronger.”
~
Mendal Mearkle, St Paul Chapter

“I feel privileged to be a SCORE volunteer.  The benefits to me are being challenged by the current issues of helping new entrepreneurs, plus, SCORE gives me the venue to learn new skills (Constant Contact, Publisher, Ready Talk, Skype, etc.)”
~
Virgil Dissmeyer, Minneapolis Chapter

“Being a SCORE counselor and helping others reminded me of just how much I knew and how I could help others. SCORE also presented some great training opportunities that helped me maintain my skill level. So while I was helping others, I also was helping myself!”
~ Julie Eastman, St. Paul Chapter

The benefits I receive from being a SCORE volunteer are the continued association with business community after retiring from the business environment; being able to utilize and share some of my business experience with clients to assist them in starting their business or improving their business; and keeping up with business trends, methods, and activity through all the SCORE resources and newsletters available.
~
Ron Herbst, Red Wing Chapter

“SCORE has a powerful and positive impact on small business success in local communities. I cannot explain the wonderful feeling when a client shares their gratitude for the assistance you have given them. There is nothing like it! I am very proud to give back and help my community through the recession with profitable small businesses that create jobs.”
~
Mike Clough, St. Paul Chapter
